Gil Briscoe
Briscoe joined Lenoir-Rhyne after two seasons at Iowa Central Community College. As throws coach for the Tritons, he led both the men's and women's teams to several Iowa Central top 10 all-time marks, Region 11 championships in the javelin and discus, six NJCAA national qualifiers, three NJCAA All-Americans and six NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
Before joining Lenoir-Rhyne, Briscoe served one season as head track and field coach at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. During his season as head coach, the team produced six indoor regional champions and five outdoor regional champions. Cuyahoga also won the NJCAA Region 12 Indoor Championship, and two student-athletes earned NJCAA Academic All-America honors.
Prior to serving as head coach, Briscoe coached the throws for 13 seasons at Cuyahoga, mentoring 17 women's national qualifiers and six NJCAA All-Americans. In 2017, his team recorded the highest grade-point average among all NJCAA women's track and field programs. During his tenure, Cuyahoga's women's teams consistently ranked among the nation's top 10 academically.
Briscoe also coached his women's throwers to 12 individual Region 12 championships and six NJCAA national qualifier performances. His most accomplished athlete, Rashida Harris, was a three-time national runner-up and four-time NJCAA All-American.
Before his time at Cuyahoga, Briscoe spent five seasons coaching field events at two high schools in the Cleveland area.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Briscoe brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to Lenoir-Rhyne.
